* To whom correspondence should be addressed. A simple and easy to understand (even at the high school level) model of the hyperbolic plane will be described. As a math manipulative, this model can be effectively used in the classroom to demonstrate the independence of the axiom of parallelism, a puzzle whose solution took 2000 years.
